Last Day of School

I got all nostalgic when I downloaded these pictures from my camera a couple of weeks ago. Awww, I thought, look at how cute they are. I miss them!

Not that I'm not very much enjoying my holidays of course! But since it's the first day of August, a day that I normally loathe, I thought this would be the perfect remedy to cure those ills.

It's now a well established tradition that the last day of school in my class is a knock down, drag 'em out water fight. Ok, not really, but we do spend at least an hour and a half trying to get each other as wet as possible.

I didn't end up taking any pictures of the water balloons apparently. Strange since that is by far the most time consuming part of this day for me: I never get to school as early as I do as on the last day when I have to fill an abundance of those stinkers.

Anyway, afterwards the boys and girls both lined up with a cup in hand. One person started beside a bucket of water and one person ended beside an empty container. The objective was to get water poured into your cup and then to pour water into the next person's cup as quickly as possible. And then at the end of the line we raced to see whose container would be filled first. I found it very amusing to watch :) Oh yes, the reward: take your cup and run after the losing team and try to get them wet. The boys won the first round and the girls the second.

Full!

After that I hauled out my Dollar Store specials. I'm sure you've seen these at home by now, and I'm equally quite positive that they've died an ignoble death almost as soon as they came home. These were a lot of fun though. Once I gave the instructions to pull back slowly and hold on to the end and don't shoot someone in the head, they were off.

And then I had to stop them and tell them that shooting someone while they were filling up with water was also out of bounds.

They were separated at first by pylons.

And then it was ready, set...

Go!

It wasn't really all that warm that day. I did fill up the containers with warm water, but yeah, that doesn't help too much eh? So while they were resting/splattering each other with water, I set up the slip 'n slide.

Not everyone took a turn, but I did manage to capture most of them.

The water is warmer than it must appear :)

And yes, the brave 'uns who decided sliding down on their knees was far too easy for them.

The only problem with the running and sliding on the feet approach is, well...

...the wipeout afterward.

And then that was it. Sniff. I couldn't believe that the year was over already. We had a great year together.

Now I hope you're all enjoying a fabulous holiday :)
