Star of the Week! Jan 22 - 26

It's such a long time from this picture (September 21)...
....to this one. Finally my turn to be the Star of the Week!
You know, I think it's fabulous to watch the kids who aren't star of the week when the star is showing off his/her poster. They're absolutely engrossed and love to see each and every picture on the star's poster. And then ask a question about each and every picture... :)

Yeppers. The star does get to do just about anything, including counting how many days we've been at school

Who wants to read? Oh the Star? Ok!!
Posing with the Friday poster :)

Our poster told us that we like our star because he's funny and can be silly to make us laugh.
See? :)

Star of the Week! Jan 15 -19

Finally!
Snow days are not fun when it is your week to be the Star. :(
But here we are, Tuesday and entranced by our Star's poster.

Because of cute pics like this one!

My, what fine career aspirations!

Yay! That's a goal of a Grade One teacher.

Look, proof!

Reading to the class. I have to admit, it's nice to sit and listen to someone else read. :)

Watching our Star's fav movie.

Star of the Week means many things including being the first in line. Always. Here we are heading off to choir in Grade Two. They have a piano. And a piano playing teacher.

See, it's the choir expression. Rapt.

Have I mentioned we love hanging out in the snow?

Our Friday poster for our Star.

YAY!!! SNOW!!!

I can't begin to tell you how much I've looked forward to the snow flying again! It's really weird to see green grass in January and have to tell the kids to stay out of the mud.

Ah, but now! Snow! See how thrilled we were to be enjoying an afternoon outside?

We trekked across the street to the pristine, untouched and untrampled upon snow to play Trail Tag.

Step One: Follow Miss J as we made snow paths.

Step Two: Trample an area for our "jail"
And then off we go! A couple of kids are "it" and everyone needs to stay on the paths. Looks like the red coats were "it" for this round.

Trapped! That's the thing about Trail Tag, the people who are "it" can trap you
with no way to escape.

Gotcha!

Aw. Caught. Once you're caught you put your hands on your head (to show you've already been captured) and head off to jail.

Joining their compadres in jail.

run, RUN! They're coming!

Yes, it is tradition to do this isn't it?

Our new "it" girls. Looks like they are plotting a strategy to trap their classmates into a dead end trail.

Parents Day at School

Yes, it was a day greatly looked forward to by the students in Grade One -- Mom and/or Dad were coming to school! Even better (thought Miss J) was that we got to begin the day at the gym.
I remembered to schlep my camera with me, but forgot to start snapping pictures until a dad had already left. Sorry! :(
Here we are noodling. There's nothing quite like everybody's it tag to get you running!

It's always so much more fun chasing after a grown up!

Mean ol' Miss J. Look at them walking to the bus in the snow and in their shorts!

Back in the classroom. Don't you think wacking each other with noodles would be more fun than watching printing?? But maybe it's no accident that some of our printing was neater than usual. Gotta impress Mom, Dad, and auntie!

Don't they get spoiled when dad's in the class?

Reading is a family activity. I guess you already know that Snuggling Up and Reading every day.

Ah French class! We were reviewing our jouets vocabulary and handily beating our moms and dads when SHOCK! A dad won! And won again...

...and so he got tackled by the class. Major distraction technique to help out his opponent. I think it worked.

Blizzard Gets a Bath

Ol' Blizz was getting a little stinky. Well, ok, the room was really starting to smell like a barn. And Blizzard, white like snow Blizzard, was beginning to look more like a yellow bunny. I know, it's gross. And so in came Rob to give Blizzard a bath and some bunny cologne. (Maybe to impress the mice in the room?)

They were fascinated!

So much for our fears that Blizzard would need to be restrained so he wouldn't jump out. Look at him chillin' in his big blue bath.

All the students had a turn giving Blizz a little scrub.

Ahhhhh. Nice and clean and happy! Ok, so he didn't look so happy at the end of it, but he sured smelled better!
