Lunch. Lunch?? Look carefully!
Oh I should have made a video for this one just so you could also share in the ear piercing screams...

Parents' Day 2008

I have to admit I was a little worried about this day.
No not (so much anyway) having all the parents in to see what was up in Grade One and Two, but rather where on earth were you all going to sit??
I was used to parents grabbing a chair and sitting beside their young 'un, but with the kids in rows of 4, a ginormous igloo in the back, and my desk on the other side, that wasn't going to work so well.
But! You figured it out anyway.
See, it doesn't even look that crowded.

Aw, big brothers are so cute eh?

Quite to the contrary of our normal rules -- no helping each other out on word searches -- the students were thrilled to discover mom and dad could help.
And they certainly took advantage of the situation! :)

And you thought I was camera shy.

Time to catch up a bit...a little bit ;)

I have no idea when this was anymore, but it was a while ago. The snow was wet and perfect for packing. For the next few weeks we had enormous snowballs melting forlornly in the back field. In fact, I think you may still find a few remnants here and there...

My favourite time of the day. Phonics. I think it's so cool to watch the kids enthusiastically correcting all my mistakes. And the things they know!

'Q' always goes with a 'u'!
Backward 'f'

Oh Miss J, sentences always begin with a capital!
And one of my pet peeves :) They're getting quite good at knowing when to spell to, too and two.
Oh and 'j' doesn't go at the end of a word!

Proper punctuation please.

See how they've fixed up my sentence?

The influx of very helpful Grade Eights, without whom I could not have built my igloo.

It's pretty cool this thing!
Even parents can't resist!
Lunch time in the igloo.
Of course, when there's a star of the week movie to watch, we combine the two...
Reading in the igloo!

Miss J gets a break while Shannon reads to the class.

Oh lookee there! A class hug! I wonder who's in the middle of that thing...
Nicola!
