There's nothing quite like finishing off our Woodland Natives unit like visiting a native village. It's fun to see how the kids were always so interested in their learning and then being able to see the things we had talked about.
"Look a longhouse!"

"It's a palisade!!"

Regaling the guide with their knowledge.

Always a highlight -- checking out the interior of the longhouse.

Pounding the corn into cornmeal.

The games are awfully fun!

Look ma!....

...no matches!
They played this game the rest of the year (in class) using their pencils. You placed a stick on top of your hand and then had to try to catch it with your palm facing down. It's actually harder than it looks!
awwww :)

Aw, mom! More sunscreen?!
Going for our stroll around the "lake". And look, they're actually walking. That's more due to the proliferation of poison ivy just off the path. We certainly didn't want them picking flowers on this day!
