It's the week before the holidays :)

Balloon Volleyball
It's a rainy day. Or was it a muddy day. It was an indoor Phys. Ed. day anyway. We're playing balloon volleyball. (or as Grade One says every year -- balloon bolleyball) We're theoretically supposed to stay on our bottoms while trying to whack the balloon in the opponents' court. You'd be surprised how difficult it is to aim a balloon!

Math
Are we ever glad all that counting money business is behind us! This patterns stuff is a breeze! Here we're making patterns with link-its and trying to do more complex patterns than a simple AB pattern. (Just ask your child for an explanation for AB or AAB patterns)

It's an AABB pattern!

We were busily making "stained glass windows" for our class windows.

They looked nice and festive!

It's somebody's birthday! And she's wearing the birthday hat! (not all the grade ones are quite so brave) Our birthday present was (of course) a song that we learned to sign as well. I was too busy signing to get any pictures though!

Inundated with good wishes and birthday cards!

Skating!
It's a great way to end the day and start off the Christmas holidays. We had to work off all that sugar that we had consumed in the previous 2 hours.

I remember those boards were very friendly to me too when I was in Grade One.

There's nothing quite like an afternoon of skating to see dads come out with their kiddies.

oops. :)

Now he's got it!

Look ma! No hands!

Yep, my feet hurt too after an hour!

I thought it a wonderful sight to see Mike the busdriver skating with the kids. Where would we be without our personable busdrivers?
They're the first and last people we meet during the daily routine of school life and it's a great blessing when they put their heart into the job....
