Who knew plants were quite so fascinating? Here we are looking at celery stems and how stems bring water up to the rest of the plant.
Different colour in the water made the leaves different colours.
And if we split the stem the leaves turned one colour or the other. Almost all of the kids thought the leaves would turn purple, but our two hold-outs in class refused to give in to the pressure and were rewarded by being right :)
While the seeds were growing into plants it was a daily routine to come into the classroom and check on how the plants were growing.
And how proud of our plants we were when they finally did start to grow!
From little seedlings...
(can you tell the different between the beans, corn and sunflowers?)
...to big plants!
