I promised the kids I'd put this on the blog right away so they could watch the chick hatch when they got home.
We have chicks in the classroom courtesy Katelyn's family. Jack the chicken expert had us all crowded around as he showed us the egg ultrasound.
Which is a box with a lamp in it. We could see the air bubble for the chick and a bunch of veins and sometimes we could see the chick moving.
Yesterday the eggs came back into the room
and we watched as in the morning we saw cracks:
and then the top of the egg was slowly being chipped off.
We went out for Phys. Ed. and when we came in, this is what we saw!
The kids noticed that another chick was just about to hatch and we got to watch it happen. It was very exciting to watch! (for those who were close enough to see it. Some of us aren't tall enough, so this will have to do :) )
