Some assorted pics for your perusal..

Here are some first day of school pictures.

Mrs. VanHof celebrated her birthday on Labour Day and treated the school with popsicles. The kids were happily consuming them at recess.

In math class Grade One had a pile of items that they sorted. They had to come up with their own sorting rules and (inevitably) they started with two: sorting by item and its colour.

Then I told them they could only choose one rule so they sorted by colour.

And then they sorted by item regardless of colour.

When we sorted kids we had some different sorting rules. This one may be difficult for you to notice. Highlight between the brackets for the answer. (They all have velcro shoes)

Working on their friendship pictures.

Every year I take the Grade Ones outside for their Star of the Week picture. After their picture gets taken they head off to the playground for a little extra play time. Grade Two was apparently watching enviously from their classroom.
