Partay at the Pumpkin Patch

Wow, this was waaaaaaay back when.... Yep, so these pictures were downloaded ages ago, I just procrastinated with saying something about them. Not that there's much profound to say about the pumpkins.
So this is pumpkin week and we went off to the pumpkin patch. Last year Grade One went in what seemed like sub-zero temps. (check the archives for proof, it was cold!)

Looking at the wildlife. So nice. And green.

Yeah, green scum. Doesn't it just make you want to dive right in?

The wagon ride is much more fun when you're not bemoaning the fact that the tractor pulls too fast and produces too much wind chill. Yes, it was that cold last year!

Checking out the interior of a pumpkin.

It was really exciting! :)

Picking out the class pumpkin...

...and individual gourds.

This is always a highlight. There seems to be nothing quite like playing with toy farming machines. In fact, when we had them in the classroom the kids' greatest joy seemed to be driving those about the windowsills.
It's also when our tour leader told me she loves having our school visit because the kids are so good. :)

BAAAAAA! These were not shy sheep!

Learning a little more about milk production and milk products.

The moo-shoe. Yes, the reason I took the picture is because I love the name. Moo shoe.

This calf was so new that she didn't have a name yet. The kids suggested Droppie (not that the people at the pumpkin patch would "get" that) and Lilly (which is a Grade Two joke)

The rope! Which produces the longest lines in the play barn. Everyone wants the thrill of swinging out into mid air and then letting go.

Looking at the bunnies. They're way cuter when they don't live in the classroom!

Mr. Photogenic. I don't think he's ever had a bad picture taken of him.

Hi ho, hi ho, it's to the farm we go

September was fabulous and October sure made a great start didn't it?

Off to visit Jack's grandparents' farm we went.
We couldn't have picked a better day to visit the farm than this one.

The highlight was, of course, this hayride. In the beautiful warm weather. Enjoying the sun. And the gorgeous fall scenery. It was great!

We hiked to the top of this hill, which is actually a lot bigger than it looks in this picture. True to form however, check out who is racing up the hill and who is lagging behind :)

Top o' the mountain!

Yep, race to the top and race to the bottom.

Our wagon and its noble steed. Ok, smelly tractor, but we learned that the tractor is a farmer's best friend, so shall we call it the noble tractor?
Captained by our fearless leader, Jack's Grandpa.

Aw look, little Pumpkin on the Prairie.
Oops, messed up my formatting of the pictures. Oh well, check out how close we got to the Texas Longhorn cattle! And check out their looooooong horns!
'

Wow. It sure looks like a lot of kids in this shot doesn't it?
What's so exciting?

The sheep of course!

I don't know who to call the sheep here...the sheep went running and, sheeplike, the kids followed.
Spoiled rotten with ice cream!
Wow cool! A manure spreader!!
