I have received a friendly nudge which was just the thing I needed. These pictures are from way back when we were studying patterns in math. There's nothing like actually making patterns to understand how they work. And for me to see if they really do "get it".

Working on a slightly more complex pattern. Looks like they were making an ABB pattern.

Hmmm. This is science class...Volume! It was amazing for them to discover how much the width of a container affected the volume of the container. Here they're busily pouring the contents of one size container into another that was more narrow.
