This is our party at the end of the year. On 100 Day we were going to try to come up with 100 ways to love each other, but we ran out of time that day. So instead I said to them if they could come up with those 100 by the end of the school year we'd have a party.
We would share some treats with our classmates. (Because sharing is one way to show love to each other right?? :) ) Wow, did they ever share. What an abundance of (junk) food.
Oh "The Incredible Journey". What a sweet movie!
We've been on a bit of a Mo Willems kick in class. He purposefully makes his illustrations in his Pidgeon and Elephant & Piggie books easy to draw because he wants to encourage kids to use his characters in stories of their own. Well, it works as you can see by Carter here. He read his own version to the class.
Here we're learning about shadows. (We had a very interesting side conversation when someone asked why God would even create shadows. We ended up talking about Jonah and Elijah in the desert among other things.) Here we're tracing our shadows...
...later in the morning we came out to trace our shadows again and noticed a big difference in our outlines. It was amazing to see how many students weren't even aware of how shadows changed throughout the day before we did this.
Ah yes. Well, before school started and after the kids finished their work they were allowed to saunter to my desk to watch this.
World cup soccer.
And YAY! The end of snuggle up and read with a Kevin Henkes book. To think, snuggle up and read is only a few weeks away again. Can't wait can you? ;)
