Winterfest....a whole LOTTA winterfest!

Winterfest is quite likely the most fun day of the year. No work and all play, what could there be to dislike? Oh and profuse apologies to all you dial-uppers. There's a lot of pictures here. And more to come on 100 Day. (and a few more were just added at the bottom of the post)

The day started bright and early in the not quite so bright confines of the skating arena. It's always nice to see all the moms and dads who come out for this day and their helping hands are particularly appreciated. There are a lot of skates to be tied!

Wipe out!

So much for not seeing big sister at school anymore!

Case of the missing snowpants. They've got AWOL, but they're present here...

Marvin needs to put his skates on.

Apparently this is waaaaay more interesting than skating. No quarters are necessary.

After a brief pit stop inside to visit the facilities and to open the day for devotions, Winterfest continued with teams partaking in a number of events. Seeing the wee ones garbed in their hockey gear was rather amusing. Not to mention I could barely recognize who was hiding behind the face mask. I assume you'll recognize your young 'un by their coats :)

Cheering on the team in the obstacle course/relay race.

Guarding the flag from "enemies". Tug o' war! Very fun. And very exhausting!

See? They're pooped!

Hmmm. Maybe some instruction is needed in hockey skills.

More guarding of the flag...and eating of the snow. Perhaps that's why...

...their flag was captured shortly after! Oh AND, in the case of the missing snowpants part 2, they're still present!

Part of the obstacle course was leapfrogging team-mates.

And concluded with a team pyramid. Which collapsed shortly thereafter.

Fortunately for my students, they were always being pulled in the sled and never were the pullers of the sled.

How he leaped them all is beyond me :)

The teachers defeating Grade 8! (or losing rather rapidly to Grade 7 and 8) Um...by the looks of it, this is being defeated ;)

And the best part of the day! Tobogganing! Yep, me too.

Going down on a GT is much, much more fun than pulling one up.

Kids, schmids. These mommas ruled the slopes!

It's so much better when someone brings that heavy sled up for you!I can hear that scream now :)

Strange. All I remember from this ride is shrieking down the slopes backward...and then going over every jump on that hill.

Taking the easy way back to the bus home.

in the case of the missing snowpants... did you notice part 3? :)... they were really missing. Zellers, Walmart had no snow pants....Sears, the Bay... nope! Believe it or not they showed up in the brand new Walmart at a discounted price :)
